Remembering The Hon. Hilary M. Weston, C.M., C.V.O, O.Ont.

We honour and remember The Hon. Hilary M. Weston, C.M., C.V.O, O.Ont., a devoted philanthropist who has had a tremendous impact around the world.

We are profoundly grateful for Ms. Weston’s generosity towards Sinai Health, which has helped us to turn bold visions into reality. From supporting our nurses in the height of the pandemic by standing with other women philanthropists in the creation of the Centre for Nursing Excellence to the historic gift to name the Weston and O’Born Centre for Mature Women's Health – a centre committed to closing gaps and addressing the health inequities that women face, Ms. Weston has helped us set new standards of care in Canada and globally.

Ms. Weston has made an enduring mark on Canadian history as a business leader, philanthropist, and public servant. During her tenure as lieutenant governor of Ontario, she championed causes such as health care, youth employment, volunteerism, education, and women’s empowerment. The Hilary and Galen Weston Foundation’s support has reinforced this legacy, and we look forward to a continued partnership honouring both Hilary and Galen’s legacies.

“Hilary Weston and her family have contributed tremendously to health equity and care in Canada. The Weston and O’Born Centre for Mature Women’s Health is one of many legacies that she will be remembered for. Her generous support of the Centre will shape the future of care for women’s health for generations.” – Maxine Granovsky Gluskin

“My dear friend Hilary had the most wonderful characteristics, a sense of giving back, purpose, integrity, leadership, vision, hard work and more. She was bold in her philanthropic decisions, which is what excited her about the Centre for Mature Women's Health. She shone from her soul – both inside and out. This loss is immeasurable, but the memories of our friendship will be with me forever.” – Janice O’Born

We will continue to celebrate Ms. Weston and are truly humbled to be one of the causes she cared so deeply about.
